Shows Cancelled Too Soon.

By John Coffey

"Now, writer Bryan Fuller has created three unique series that are quirky and truly bizarre. Unfortunately, all three did not live a prosperous life despite having a faithful following.

Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls and, now, Pushing Up Daisies, had the critics and fans buzzing about the wonderment of the varied ideas behind each series, but the path still led to cancellation. What a pity.

Right now, Fuller has gone back to writing for Heroes, hopefully he can resuscitate the series.”

-- Series that are axed too soon

I think that 3 of the 4 shows listed in the quote above are brilliant, although Heroes seems to stumbled a bit.   Dead Like Me and Pushing Up Daisies were absolutely brilliant, but some shows are so weird and/or cerebral that you know from the very start that they don’t stand a chance with the general public.

Besides, I think that the public can only accept so much fantasy.   Too many people think that fantasy and science fiction are “stupid.”   In reality, the opposite is true, but many people want “real” shows.

One nice thing about Lost is that it is a fantasy disguised as real life.   The fantasy portions of the show are a rarely seen backdrop to the human drama in the foreground.

Wonderfalls I could have lived without.   It had its good moments, but about half of the episodes were duds.   It is no wonder that it was cancelled after about 5 episodes.   The DVD’s contain 2 years of shows, most of which never aired.

Coming soon: Dollhouse, on FOX.

I liked that pouty little girl on Dead Like Me.   Although I didn't agree with their idea of after life it was interesting and I couldn't help wanting to see her get back together with her family.   The tiolet seat tree was great.   I like Pushing up Daisies too.   It is different and unlike all the other shows on TV I don't know how it well end.   I love the petite little blonde she fansicinates me.   Sorry to hear it'll not be back.
