This is my study guide to 1,001 Brilliant Ways to Checkmate by Fred Reifeld. In the 1970's, this was the only book on tactics that I had available to study. What I didn't like about it is that the problems are in no particular order of difficulty. There were 10 move problems and 1 move problems on the same page, and 2/3 of the problems in the book were above my level at the time which meant that studying those problems were a waste of my time. I have taken the first half of the book and grouped the problems by *rating* *class*. This could be a useful study program for those who want to start with the easier problems and work their way up to the harder problems. Class E problems: 348, 361, 367, 392 and 415. Class D problems: 2, 23 36, 54, 72, 113, 114, 120, 122, 125, 135, 153, 155, 158, 186, 245, 271, 275, 296, 306, 320, 338, 349, 355, 357, 369, 373, 381, 413, 426, 443,451 Class C problems: 1, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 19, 25, 27, 34, 53, 58, 60, 61, 63, 65, 71, 73, 76, 77, 79, 88, 91, 92, 93, 94, 98, 100, 102, 105, 112, 118, 123, 124, 126, 130, 137, 138, 139, 143, 146, 148, 149, 151, 152, 170, 171, 172, 176, 187, 189, 193, 197,199, 201, 205, 209, 210, 216, 218, 220, 224, 225, 230, 234, 236, 240, 242, 243, 244, 249, 252, 254, 260, 261, 262, 263, 269, 270, 274, 276, 283, 285, 286, 288, 289, 290, 308-310, 323, 324, 343, 353, 356, 358-360, 362, 364, 368, 375-377, 379, 380, 385, 389, 394-397, 417, 420, 421, 429, 430, 431, 434, 436, 441, 442, 446, 447 Class B problems 7,11, 13, 14, 17, 26, 28-30, 31, 32, 35, 39, 40, 42, 43, 49, 50, 51, 52, 55, 56, 59, 70, 80, 83, 84, 90, 106, 107, 111, 115, 116, 119, 121, 127-129, 131, 140, 144, 145, 156, 160, 161, 177, 181-184, 192, 200, 205, 206, 211, 221, 222, 223, 228, 229, 231, 233, 237, 238, 246, 280, 291-293, 300, 303, 304, 309, 315, 316, 318, 329, 341, 344, 350, 352, 354, 365, 366, 370-372, 378, 381, 382, 387-390, 399, 402, 404, 470, 412, 414, 414, 419, 423-425, 432, 437, 438, 445, 450 Class A problems 9, 10, 18, 20, 21, 24, 33, 37, 38, 44, 46, 47, 64, 67-69, 75, 81, 86, 87, 96, 97, 109, 110, 132, 133, 136, 142, 150, 162, 165, 173, 175, 178-180, 185, 188, 191, 194, 202-204, 208, 226, 232, 239, 241, 247, 248, 250, 251, 256-258, 264, 265, 267, 272-273, 279, 282, 287, 294, 298, 301, 302, 307, 312-314, 325, 337, 340, 345-347, 351, 374, 384, 386, 388, 391, 399, 401, 405, 408-410, 418, 433, 435, 439, 448, 449, 452 Expert Level problems: 5, 22, 41, 45, 57, 62, 78, 82, 85, 95, 101, 103, 104, 117, 134, 166, 174, 196, 214, 235, 359, 278, 281, 311, 317, 322, 332, 400, 411, 416, 428, 453, 454 Master Level Problems: 48, 66, 74, 89, 108, 147, 167, 190, 195, 198, 207, 227, 284, 297, 330, 393, 403, 406, 427, 440, 444 There are three things I would like to get from the readers of this page: 1.)
